New England Fall Foliage
Hiker

Hike, Canoe/Kayak and Ride Horseback in the Green and White Mountains

Revel in the color palette of New England's fall foliage as we explore the lofty mountains, babbling brooks, pastoral farms and quaint villages that characterize Vermont and New Hampshire. Sample the local products--cheddar cheese, maple syrup, apple cider...and Ben and Jerry's ice cream. Top it off with the charm and tranquility of New England country inns.

Day 1 Mt. Pisgah-Lake Willoughby. Shuttle to the Northeast Kingdom and hike Mt. Pisgah. Passing through a forest of maple, birch, spruce and pine, reach rocky aeries high above precipitous cliffs with distant views of Jay Peak, Mount Mansfield and of the blue lake below.

Day 2 Franconia Notch.
Follow an old bridal path as we ascend the ridge to the summit of Mt. Lafayette in New Hampshire's Franconia Range. Marvel at the 360-degree panorama of seemingly endless mountains as you attain the summit.

Day 3 Mount Washington. Hike through dense forest and scramble up the ridge to Mt. Jefferson. Then experience the tundra as we walk along the spine of the Presidential Range to Mt. Washington, the tallest peak in the Northeast. The trip back down the mountain is aboard the coal burning, steam-powered cog railway, in operation since 1869.

Day 4 Flume Gorge-Stowe.
This morning's hike takes us into Flume Gorge, a geologic wonder in Franconia Notch. We then shuttle to Stowe, Vermont with a stop at the Cold Hollow Cider Mill to see apple cider made the old fashioned way. Relax at day's end in the comforts of a country manor.

Day 5 Mount Mansfield-Lamoille River. After a shuttle up Mt. Mansfield, we begin our stroll along the ridge to Lake of the Clouds. Following lunch we paddle the gentle Lamoille River through farmlands and ample offerings of autumn color.

Day 6 Stowe Pinnacle.
Sleep in or start your day with a leisurely horseback ride on the trails at our country estate. Our final hike takes us to Stowe Pinnacle with sweeping views of the Green Mountains and the village of Stowe below. Top off a great week with a tour and a scoop of "Cherry Garcia" at Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream Factory in Waterbury.
