Colorado Backcountry
Multi-Sport

Hike, Bike and Raft Colorado's Backcountry

Imagine a multi-sport getaway where you are literally immersed in the pristine wilds of Colorado's snow-covered peaks, wildflower-laden meadows and shimmering aspen groves. On our lofty backcountry adventure, we bicycle historic pathways, raft exhilarating whitewater, and hike among jagged peaks and glaciated lakes. At day's end, relax in the comfort of a European-style chalet.

Days 1-2 Vail-Tennessee Pass-Arkansas River. Meeting in Vail, our adventure begins with a hike along a portion of the 490-mile Colorado Trail from Tennessee Pass to Uncle Bud's Hut, where we enjoy the peace and solitude of the Rocky Mountain backcountry. The next day we whitewater raft the thrilling rapids of Brown's Canyon on the Arkansas River.

Days 3-4 Timberline and Turquoise Lakes. We hike past a series of emerald-tinted alpine lakes and through meadows of wildflowers up to the shores of Timberline Lake, nestled at the base of the Continental Divide. Following a peaceful night at Skinner Hut, we bike down the old Midland Railroad route to Turquoise Lake with views of Mt. Elbert and Mt. Massive, two of Colorado's highest peaks.

Day 5 Hagerman Pass-Holy Cross Wilderness-Henderson Park. Departing from our secluded lodge, we bike over Hagerman Pass on the Continental Divide and then shuttle to explore expansive Henderson Park by foot. The day is capped off at Peter Estin Hut, perched high on a lofty knoll at 11,200 feet.

Day 6 Charles Peak-White River National Forest-Vail. Summit Charles Peak at over 12,000 feet in the morning and witness the breathtaking 360-degree views of the central Colorado Rockies. Conclude our activities with a bike ride downhill through aspen forests and meadows of wildflowers to Yeoman Park. We end our Colorado sampling with a shuttle back to Vail.
