Tour Guide Positions

Thank you for your interest in The World Outdoors. We are now accepting applications for guide positions for the 2007 season which begins in April and extends through October.

The main things we look for in hiring new staff for our guiding team is previous guiding experience, a Wilderness First Responder certification, extensive regional knowledge of the areas in which we operate (Rocky Mountains, Sierras, northern New Mexico, northern Arizona, Pacific Northwest, Montana, Utah's canyonlands, and New England), top-notch interpersonal skills, basic bike mechanics, outdoor skills, flexibility and a love for the outdoors. Our guides work very hard under demanding conditions, and need to perform at the highest standards for several weeks at a time. This position is not for people new to the industry who just want to do something fun for the summer. The Tour Leader position is geared toward individuals interested in pursuing a career as a professional guide and who could commit to working at least two seasons as a guide within our organization.

Internships

An internship with The World Outdoors is an outstanding way to gain practical experience in the operational and administrative aspects of the exciting field of adventure travel. lnterns have the opportunity to become involved in a wide variety of tasks critical to our business including sales, marketing, administration, accounting, tour planning and tour preparation while gaining valuable industry contacts and references. We do our best to get every intern on one of our adventure vacations during their internship and you can take advantage of our Pro Deal programs for great discounts on outdoor clothes and gear from companies like Patagonia, Northface, Montbel, Sierra Design, Camelbak, Chaco and more. Plus you get to enjoy gorgoeous Boulder Colorado and its awewsome Rocky Mountain lifestyle - world class hiking, biking, climbing, camping, skiing and snowboarding - along with an outstanding social scene centered around the beaufiful campus of the University of Colorado.

Our program is open to all people interested in this experience and applications are always welcome. However, it is best suited for students majoring in Recreation, Sports Managment or a related field who are interested in an internship to fullfill their degree requirements. Our internships are unpaid positions focused on office activities and do not involve guiding tours. We require a minimum 3 month commitment.
